Viroc A2: what does A2-s1,d0 mean?

When specifying construction materials, a reaction-to-fire classification says far more than it may first appear. In the case of Viroc A2, A2-s1,d0 describes three essential aspects of its behaviour when exposed to fire.

Viroc A2 has a reaction-to-fire classification of A2-s1,d0, in accordance with EN 13501-1.

But what do these letters and numbers actually mean?

A2 — very limited contribution to fire

Class A2 applies to materials with a very limited contribution to the development of a fire.

s1 — low smoke production

The letter “s” refers to smoke production. The s1 classification corresponds to the lowest level of smoke production within this scale.

d0 — no flaming droplets or particles

The “d” classification assesses the formation of flaming droplets or particles during exposure to fire. d0 means that no flaming droplets or particles are produced under the conditions defined by the test.

Together, A2-s1,d0 identifies a material with a very limited contribution to fire, low smoke production and no formation of flaming droplets.

These characteristics are particularly relevant in projects where fire safety requirements play a decisive role in material selection.

Viroc A2 combines this performance with the characteristics of a wood and cement composite panel, providing a solution for projects with more demanding reaction-to-fire requirements.

Because in specification, every detail matters.
